Our CG gathered last night after a long downer day of work. (Rant post to follow)
I knew this day was going to end with a sweet note…figuratively and literally.
We usually meet at church but Jina opened up her place last minute and it was a good change for the overall evening. Plus she’s a great cook! I love it when members of the body chip in to bring stuff (specifically food) to share with one another.
Carol offered to bring Thai Iced tea for all the ladies. It worked out perfectly because we were celebrating God’s faithfulness and needed something to toast with other than water. (I was so out of it at work. I thought of getting Martinelli’s but ended up coming straight to Jina’s to prep)
Full house indeed! All 8 ladies (not shown in picture) came and we devoured all the food and drinks!
And of course Ira walks in with a box of Sprinkles. “Cupcakes are therapeutic”-Ira Lee. Sweetie.
God is truly an anchor for the storm of our lives. We’ve had some rocky moments to overcome together as a community. We celebrated to honor the faithfulness of God and to toast goodwill to a sister in her ongoing journey.
I am constantly reminded of this song by Steven Curtis Chapman and Matt Redman called “Close To Your Heart”. I love the chorus for moments like this.
We have this hope
An anchor for the soul
We have this truth
A compass for the heart
You’ve gone before us
And You are with us
And You will carry us through
You will carry us close to Your heart
The chorus is based on scripture. Hebrew 6
Hebrews 6:18-20 NLT
So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.
Because of Jesus and his sacrifice, we have access by grace and faith to THE God of the universe who is living active, powerful, sovereign, holy, just, merciful and compassionate…who is our hope, an anchor for the soul. An anchor for the storms.
I love celebrating God..it’s endless.
